What Is Eczema?

Eczema, also called atopic dermatitis, is a chronic skin condition characterized by red, rough, itchy rashes. The exact cause of eczema is unknown, but there are believed to be a number of irritants that trigger flare ups. There is also a secondary type of eczema, called contact dermatitis, caused by specific irritants making contact with the skin. NUSCULPT helps patients manage both types of eczema.

How is Eczema Treated?

If you are experiencing contact dermatitis, determining the irritant is the first step. This may be a lotion, soap, or a piece of jewelry. Once the irritant is identified, avoiding contact with the material is usually enough to eliminate eczema symptoms. For patients with atopic dermatitis, we offer prescription medications. This can include either topical or oral medications which help eliminate symptoms of eczema with daily use.

When Will I Notice Results from Eczema Treatment?

With regular use of the prescribed medications, patients should notice a reduction in their eczema symptoms within a few days. It is important to continue prescribed use of the medications, even after symptoms begin to improve.

Are Eczema Treatment Results Permanent?

Eczema is a chronic skin condition, meaning it can’t be cured. Eczema treatment can be effective for reducing symptoms and minimizing the frequency of flare ups, but it cannot prevent eczema flare ups from occurring in the future.
